Our Programs

Our beliefs and expectations, along with our understanding of how children learn provide the basis with which our educators endeavour to provide the best experiences and outcomes for children and families by providing:

  • Planned sensory, creative, language, science and cognitive activities based on written observations of the children at play.
  • An educational music program taught by a certified Preschool Music teacher and Registered Early Childhood Educator.
  • Planned physical gross motor activities both outdoors and in the Kensington School gymnasium – a perk of being located in a school!


Infant Program

Our Infant Room has 10 children ages 0 – 18 months,
cared for by four full-time staff.

 In the Infant Room, planned activities and experiences are structured around each child’s individual needs and schedule, including rest and feeding times.

Developmental reviews are completed after the first month of admission to each room subsequently every 3 months. Daily documented observations are also completed to aid the staff in developmental and age appropriate programming. Programs are designed to:

  • Respect each infant’s abilities, needs and strengths
  • Foster infants sense of trust
  • Encourage language development

Sign language is a popular communication tool used in our Infant Room.

A variety of music is offered including regular visits by a Certified Preschool Music Teacher who is also a Registered Early Childhood Educator.

Summertime programming includes plenty of outdoor waterplay.


Toddler Program

Our Toddler Program has 15 children ages 18 – 30 months,
cared for by four full-time staff.

Programs are designed to:

  • Respect each Toddler’s abilities, needs and strengths
  • Foster Toddlers sense of autonomy and self-esteem
  • Encourage the development of positive social skills
  • Foster language development

Sign language is a popular communication tool used in our Toddler Room.

A variety of music is offered including regular visits by a Certified Preschool Music Teacher who is also a Registered Early Childhood Educator. Her visits are eagerly anticipated and enjoyed by our Toddler children.

Summertime programming includes plenty of picnics and outdoor waterplay.


Preschool Program

Our two Preschool Rooms each have 16 children ages 2 ½ – 4 years and each room is cared for by two full-time and one part-time staff.

Programs are designed to:

  • Foster Preschoolers sense of autonomy and self-esteem
  • Encourage the development of positive social skills and self-regulation
  • Provide an environment rich in opportunities for exploration and experimentation

Sign language is an integral part of our language program.

A variety of music is offered including regular visits by a Certified Preschool Music Teacher who is also a Registered Early Childhood Educator. Her visits are eagerly anticipated and actively enjoyed by our Preschool children.

Preschool children participate in a variety of pre-writing and pre-reading activities throughout the day.

Summertime programming includes picnics and plenty of outdoor waterplay.


Junior and Senior Kindergarten Before & After School Program and

Summer Camp

Our JK/SK room has 26 children cared for by two full-time and one part-time staff.

 The Before & After program is dedicated to the successful integration of Childcare and Kindergarten.

Programs are designed to:

  • Respect each JK/SK child’s abilities, needs and strengths.
  • Encourage the development of positive social skills and self-regulation.
  • Provide an environment rich in opportunities for exploration and experimentation.
  • Foster a sense of autonomy.
  • Create a seamless day for Kindergarten children through collaboration, joint program planning and active communication with Kindergarten teachers and administrators.

JK/SK children participate in a variety of pre-writing and pre-reading activities throughout the day.

A variety of music is offered including regular visits by a Certified Preschool Music Teacher actively enjoyed.

Our Summer Camp program includes lots of outdoor picnics and waterplay as well as weekly excursions to various venues in and around the City. Some of our summer trips include:

  • Centre Island
  • Horseplay at the CNE
  • Little Red Theatre
  • High Park Zoo
